Course Overview

Jira Portfolio (Roadmaps) is Agile road mapping for your business.  This fast-paced two-day workshop teaches students core skills required to leverage Portfolio / Roadmaps to create forecasts of their work. Throughout the course, students will gain hands-on experience with adjusting scope, teams, and releases. Participants will also learn how to safely test ‘what-if’ scenarios to improve their long-term planning effectiveness.

Working in a hands-on learning environment, led by our Planning with Advanced Roadmaps expert instructor, students will learn how to:

  • Configure Jira for Portfolio Management / Roadmaps support
  • Create a plan for initiatives and resources required to meet business goals
  • Use the following Tabs
  • Scope tab: manage issues and dependencies
  • Teams: manage HR
  • Release tab: manage release schedules
  • Use colors to track how the teams are staying focused on key initiatives
  • Use goal seek and what-if scenarios to consider changes to improve the plan performance

Course Objectives

This course is approximately 50% hands-on, combining expert lecture, real-world demonstrations and group discussions with machine-based practical labs and exercises.  

Working in a hands-on learning environment, led by our Planning with Advanced Roadmaps expert instructor, students will learn how to:

Course Prerequisites

This course is geared for participants who would be responsible for setting up a Jira Software project. Typical roles might include Program managers, Project managers, Product owners, Product managers and Development team managers using Jira Software.

Take Before: Participants should have incoming experience aligned with the skills listed in the course(s) below, or should have attended these as a pre-requisite:

  • Introduction to Jira
  • Understanding Agile Development

Students will also receive the project files (or code, if applicable) and solutions required for the hands-on work.
